2005-04-19, SOUTHSTATE LLC - Open Book Ministries is a non-denominational online e-zine seeking to inform and inspire African American Christians and families. Founded by Pastor Renee Greene, the website aims to uplift the African American community by presenting positive community news in a spiritual light to those who follow and lead in the Christian faith and spirit-filled lifestyles. Its motto is "It isn’t how you say it; it’s how you live it.”Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 20, 2005 -- Open Book Ministries and GreeneInk.com, LLC Publishing present The Conqueror & Review, an online e-zine founded by Pastor S R Greene and the staff and faithful of Open Book Ministries. The aim of the e-zine is to inform, entertain and inspire African American families in their Christian faith, and to present the more positive aspect of black lifestyles and living in America. Min. Greene is also an editor/journalist who has worked for Knight-Ridder publications and was Chief Executive Editor of AngelFish News in Review, and the former Managing Director of The Freedom Riders Express. “The website has been underway for a few years and is finally entering its beginning stages of production. The idea came after viewing so many negative images of African Americans in current and past media. It was past time for someone else to step in and be a beacon of light not only to those in the community who still carry on the work of The Civil Rights Movement, but also to those who do so in light of the Word of God,” said Greene. GreeneInk was established in 1999 and Open Book was established in 2004. Min. Greene states, “It is the standing of The Conqueror & Review that much has been done in the community, but that we, as a people, still have a long way to go. African Americans are surrounded and affected by above-average stressors in the human condition, as well as historical oppression and abuse that makes the uniqueness of the Black Experience in America one that needs special attention and care as we strive toward the future. Its purpose and mission is to help combat the myths that lock the mindset of black people in America (what we call Afrimericans) into the continuance of oppression in their own lives and to help and assist with the unifying and strengthening of the community as a whole. The Conqueror & Review has set itself apart for the edification of the church and the building up of the people of God.” A major goal of Open Book Ministries is to help improve the overall well-being and nurturing of African American Christian families, with a particular bend toward teen girls in the village. The website is in its opening development stages and has plans for the future that will include interactive Bible study, event calendars, articles and columns on spiritual principles for living, feeding the soul, focus on faith, faith-based child-raising, and women of color called to be in ministry, as well as current events shown with the flashlight of the Living Word. Greene further states, “The Conqueror & Review focuses on what is yet only a handful of internet resources for African American Christian families and it is the premier online ministry to especially focus on the needs of African American Christian women, children, and families with a world view and perspective that will help to guide us in our whereabouts in the grand scheme of God’s plans.” Since its launch in April of 2004, the website has logged over 5,000 visitors and has 1,800 sister site e-mail newsletter subscribers. If you would like to become a writer or columnist for The Conqueror & Review, please e-mail or call ( or 404.512.2565) with your bio and ideas and suggestions. They will respond accordingly. The e-zine also seeks page sponsors, as it is a not-for-profit organization and does not charge a fee to subscribers.
